The lake invites the most adventurous to practice water sports like Wakeboard, Wakesurf, Wakeskate or Waterski. Those looking to relax can take a boat tour around the lake, with a mandatory stop for a swim, or a towed buoy session.

Leisure activities

The Montargil Lake offers excellent conditions for the practice of sport fishing, canoeing, rowing and stand up paddle. The trails and wild beaches are perfect for walk, or for a buggy ride if you are more adventurous.

You can also take a horse ride around the lake with Coudelaria Dias, do a wine tasting at Monte da Raposinha or an olive oil tasting at Monte de Portugal. There’s a variety of experiences for all tastes.

Local gastronomy

Alentejo is synonymous with Migas, there are several restaurants in the vicinity where you can taste this typical delicacy, the Retiro do Mocho in Foros do Mocho, the Palmeira in Cabeção or the famous Afonso in Mora.

But there is more than Migas, O Forno in Pavia serves the best “petiscos” and an amazing sole fillets, at Olivença in Ponte de Sor you can start by the tasty stuffed mushrooms, followed by a fantastic prawn “feijoada”.

Places of interest

There are several sites of interest in the region to visit during your stay. In the village of Montargil you will find beautiful viewpoints to observe the lake from above and the Igreja Matriz. You can visit the otters of the Fluviário de Mora, a walk on the wooden walkway and on the river beach of Açude do Gameiro, or discover the Windmill in Foros do Arrão and the Anta Capela de São Diniz in Pavia. In the city of Ponte de Sor, take a stroll along the riverside or visit the Rice Museum.
